Shilo Inn Boise Riverside is conveniently located on the Boise River with direct access to the Greenbelt, a gorgeous 22 mile paved path around the river which is great for biking and jogging.

I decided on this hotel for my trip to Boise mainly because of the convenient access to the Greenbelt. I loved being able to walk right outside the door for a bike ride).

Appearance

The hotel is very basic in appearance with no particular theme. This hotel rooms located on the back face the Greenbelt and thus have nice views of the water and trees. Make sure to reserve a hotel room which faces the Greenbelt and river for the most peaceful views.

Amenities

Amenities included a free continental breakfast, 24 hour coffee and tea, and free Wi-Fi access. The breakfast was pretty decent and included omelets, a waffle station, biscuits and gravy, cereals, muffins, oatmeal, juices, coffee, and tea. I was excited that they had my favorite, Tazo green tea available.

Another great amenity was a convenient airport shuttle.

Dogs are allowed for a $25 per stay charge.

There is a small fitness center, pool, spa, steam room, and dry sauna. The steam room was a treat after a long bike ride on the Greenbelt. The gym looked pretty decent, however, I recommend skipping the fitness center in favor of the gorgeous greenbelt right outside the door.

Nice views from the pool and hot tub area added to the experience.

One minor inconvenience: the hotel was supposed to offer a complimentary newspaper. However, when I asked the staff at the front desk they knew nothing about it.

Price

I booked this hotel online through hotels.com for a mere $64 per night. This was not a bad deal considering that the room included a balcony with a nice view of the river. Rates on the website vary from $75-95, although I recommend checking other discount sites for a better deal.

Room

The hotel room was pretty basic and included a microwave and fridge. There was no coffee pot in the room, but there was 24 hour free coffee and tea in the lobby. The highlight of the room was definitely the views of the river. Grab your morning coffee or tea, kick back on the patio for a bit, the get your butt over to the Greenbelt for an amazing workout.

Final Remarks

Shilo Inn Boise Riverside is an affordable hotel which offers convenient access to outdoor recreation on the Greenbelt. The steam room, great views, and Tazo green tea were bonuses.

As one inconvenience, there were no restaurants within walking distance of he hotel.

I would likely only stay here again if I found a cheap rate and was traveling for the primary purpose of accessing the Greenbelt. If you are not using the Greenbelt, then there are better hotel options in the Boise area for a similar price.
