Mountainaire Tavern
Mountainaire Tavern is a rustic little hangout in Mountainaire, a tiny community just 15 minutes outside of Flagstaff. Unlike the majority of the businesses in the area, Mountainaire's dining room actually offers an attractive mountain theme, a very fitting setting for the area which is home to the state's highest mountain range. This local's favorite offers a cozy setting and a diverse menu consisting of casual comfort foods.
Food
Mountainaire now offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast includes your standard fare like omelets and pancakes. Lunch and dinner is all about comfort foods like pizza, fried appetizers, tacos, burgers and sandwiches, and seafood platters.
The homemade pizza crust they use is a crispy, airy whole grain style, very good. In terms of appetizers, the fried veggies are an absolute must try! Try the broccoli and onions!
Everything was a real treat after being in the cold and snow all day.
Service
Unfortunately, they were very short staffed during our visit. The bartender was doubling as a waitress, and hence, our service was extremely slow. The pizza took almost an hour and our drinks were never refilled. Although friendly, she just couldn't handle several tables and the bar at the same time.
Atmosphere
The setting at Mountainaire is relaxed and cozy. The cabin style decor is the perfect compliment for the snowy winter landscapes surrounding Flagstaff. What a great spot to warm up and relax at after a day out skiing or playing in the snow!
Unlike restaurants in Flagstaff, this local joint does not get overly busy and noisy, so you can kick back and enjoy your meal. You can even play a game of pool or darts while waiting for your food.

Overall, Mountainaire is a good choice for locals and visitors seeking a restaurant offering a more rustic Western ambiance. Sit back and enjoy the rural charm, order some fun appetizers, and warm up a bit before enjoying more of the fun recreational activities that Flagstaff offers.
