Seasons Buffet is the recently renovated buffet located in the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. My boyfriend and I decided to have Christmas brunch here this year to try out something different.

Despite having to wait in line for almost an hour to get in (never expected a buffet to be that crowded on a holiday!) we were pleasantly surprised with the quantity of food, the quality of most items, and the striking decor. Luckily the breakfast only costs $12 a person and we got there late, so we enjoyed both breakfast and lunch options for only $24.

Food

There is an abundance of food at this buffet. Everything is in its own section: salad bar, soup area, dessert area, pizza section, Chinese food, seafood, bbq, and more. You will not leave hungry at this buffet. Your only problem will be deciding what to eat!

My only complaint was that they could have offered a few more vegetarian options. This buffet seemed to add meat to ever entree even if it wasn't something that typically contained meat. They should add a small vegetarian section.

Other than a lack of vegetarian option, I still had plenty of options to eat since the buffet is so huge. Everything was pretty fresh and served hot, although the lines were tremendously long, which was kinda of annoying when you were going up to get seconds.

My favorite part of the buffet: the soups section - they had 6 different types of soup. I tried the minestrone and a squash soup and they were both delicious. I also thought that the breakfast options were much better than the lunch: loved the made to order omelets and different varieties of french toast and potatoes that you could choose from.

My major problem with this buffet is the price! I am used to the buffets in Reno and Vegas which are pretty cheap and often offer promotions like 2 for 1 deals or discounts with a Player's Card. This buffet doesn't offer any type of promotions (not sure why).

The best time to visit this buffet is right at the end of breakfast (around 10:30am or so). If you get here at this time you pay 50% less (over dinner) and get to enjoy both breakfast and lunch options. Breakfast Price: $12.50 - 7:30am -11:00am Lunch Price: $21.00 - 11:00am - 5:00pm Dinner Price: $25.00 - 5:00pm-9:00pm(11 on weekends)

Service

Our waitress was really slow at bringing over our drinks. We had to ask her several times. This ticked me off especially since the buffet isn't exactly cheap.

Atmosphere

The decor is very nice: bold colors and tiled columns. It gives the buffet a more elegant atmosphere than you typically find. It is definitely has appealing decor - they spent a lot of money remodeling the buffet so I guess the money went to good use. It looks much better than the Foxwoods dining room, which is very simple, boring, and in need of a major renovation.

Final Remarks

Mohegan Sun's Season Buffet is a decent buffet with plenty of food options, although a tad pricey. I don't know if I would ever go during dinner hours and pay $50 for a buffet, however, if it comes between this buffet and Foxwoods I will definitely be heading back to the Mohegan Sun.
