Best Western Plus Northwest Lodge was a nice treat for my birthday weekend in Boise, Idaho. My boyfriend and I decided on this hotel because we were looking for a rustic theme with great amenities.

Appearance

Boise's Best Western Plus Northwest Lodge is located a bit of a way from the city's main attractions, however, the quiet setting, nice amenities, and affordable price make it worth a look.

I loved that this hotel had a rustic, mountain themed look both inside and outside. The main entrance to the hotel has a very woody look, and the lobby has a nice stone fireplace and wood tables.

Amenities

Amenities included a free breakfast, an evening wine reception, late night cookies and milk, free WiFi, a complimentary newspaper each morning, and a 24 hour pool, spa and fitness center.

The free breakfast was great because it was open from 5-10am, which gave you plenty of time to decide when to eat. It was better than your typical continental breakfast and included burritos, eggs, cereals, muffins, bagels, toast, make your own waffles, juices, and more.

The evening wine reception (5-7pm) was a real treat. Each night hotel guests can receive a free glass of wine or a free beer. It was so nice having a complimentary glass of wine each night by the fireplace before heading off to dinner.

The free cookies and milk each night from 8-10pm were an added bonus and were well appreciated when we got back to the hotel. Additionally, 24 hour coffee and tea are available in the lobby. Small touches like this really make a difference in your vacation!

I loved the fact that the pool, hot tub, and workout room were all open 24 hours. Usually, I have a hard time fitting in my workout and hot tub time with the rest of my planned activities. My only complaint was that the pool water was not heated. Other than that, the hot tub was relaxing and the treadmill was new.

Price

We found a great deal on this hotel on hotels.com for $70 a night. This is with a doubt my favorite Best Western I have ever stayed at. So many amenities were included for the small price. If I had one negative about the hotel, it was the location - located on the outskirts of town, so we did a bit of driving.

Room

The room was small and rustic themed. There was a mini refrigerator, but no microwave. However, you can use the microwave in the lobby if you need one. It seemed clean to me. I loved the 7 foot shower head which worked out great for my tall boyfriend. There is also a flat screen TV.

Final Remarks

I recommend staying at the Best Western Plus Northwest Lodge if you are looking for a mountain lodge themed hotel with great amenities at a great price. As long as you don't mind driving a bit to get into town, this hotel is sure to please!
