Genovese's Fine Italian Restaurant
Genovese's is a charming Italian restaurant in Prescott's historic downtown neighborhood. It's worthy of a try if you are looking for an affordable Italian meal. The pleasant decor, affordable pricing, and fantastic service make Genovese's one of the better options in downtown Prescott for a relaxing lunch.
Food
For starters, garlic bread is brought out as a complimentary appetizer. Unfortunately, it was a bit stale and cold and did not taste freshly baked. A side of homemade bread with olive oil would be better.
For lunch, you have a wide range of options including all the traditional dishes like spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, and ravioli. We chose to go with the classic Fettuccine Alfredo (very creamy, although a bit too heavy) and the The Combo (half a serving of tortellini Alfredo and Cheese Ravioli topped with marinara). We were both satisfied in our dishes and thought they were a great value (under $10 with bread and a side salad). On one disappointing note, the salad was drenched with dressing (order it on the side).
Unfortunately, we were much too stuffed to try out dessert, which includes options such as tirimasu and cheesecake.
Genovese's is a pretty good value for the Prescott area. A simple lunch consisting of bread, a side salad, and a classic pasta entree will only cost the average diner $20-30 per couple, making it the perfect lunch date destination.
Service
Service was prompt and professional. Our waiter was able to answer any questions without needing to check with anyone.
Atmosphere
The setting at Genovese's is relaxed (barely any crowds on a Sunday afternoon) with an attractive old-fashioned Italian designed dining room. The pretty lights on the ceiling create a nice atmosphere for a date. The soft music and the romantic setting make it the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.
Final Remarks
Geonvese's is a great value lunch option in Prescott, offering an attractive dining room, exceptional service, and a diverse menu. While it is far from the best Italian restaurants I've tried, it's a decent option for Arizona.
